NATURAL MATERIAL ART

WHO AM I - DAVID BROOME
ShedArt-79 began as a hobby in 2014, sparked by the extra time that came with retirement. What was once a simple passion for creating art and garden features quickly blossomed into something more. With the unexpected gift of more time during the Covid pandemic, my workshop expanded, allowing me to recycle and upcycle even more materials. This journey has led me to perfecting the craft of creating art, repairing or refurbishing original or vintage light fittings, and functional home and garden pieces that you can’t find anywhere else.
UPCYCLYING & RECYCLING
At ShedArt-79, I believe that the end of something is often the beginning of something new. Waste isn’t just waste—it’s the opportunity to create something beautiful, functional, and unique. Through the art of recycling and upcycling, we transform discarded materials into stunning art, repairing and refurbishing original or vintage light fittings, garden features, and homewares that stand the test of time.
I do not design or manufacture new light fittings.
Why Choose Recycling and Upcycling?
Recycling and upcycling aren’t just about reducing waste; they’re about revitalising materials and giving them a second life. Think of it like taking medicine—it can make something well again. By reimagining what others might discard, we help reduce environmental impact while creating high-quality, handcrafted pieces that are as functional as they are beautiful.
WHAT BEGAN AS A HOBBY HAS NOW BECOME A FULL-ON PASSION.
In this blog, I’ll take you behind the scenes of my creative process—sharing the stories behind each piece, the materials I’ve rescued, and the journey from scrap to statement. You’ll also find tips, inspiration, and the occasional look at how you can bring upcycled beauty into your own home or garden.
