July & August Projects

The Studio. This was the old Beach Hut themed shed that for years was part of our open garden events. So we decided to turn it into an office - showroom. so a complete paint and repair job and new shelving made from old pallets and 15mm thick Perspex windows (old display shelving, but keeps warmth in and no condensation) . I also installed TV -Wi-Fi -Security Cameras -Alarm -Heating -LED Lighting - Fridge . So a nice extra working environment in the garden to work or just relax in.

RSPCA. Exterior Collection Boxes. I repaired and renovated a Dog one, which then went back to its position at Finchley Nurseries in Mill Hill - NW7…… and a Cat one which went to The RSPCA Shop in High Rd N2. I have been looking after them for several years now and all my works are No Charge. Its so good to do something for them, as they do so much for animals in distress and rehoming.

King Cobra Desk Light. I was asked by a friend to repair her dads large, solid brass desk light that had been taken apart during a previous renovation attempt and some of it original parts being lost and wiring removed. I was able to find a picture of an original one and source /and make new parts as necessary - fit new E27 lamp holder - rewire - fit LED Deco lamp - PAT test it and apply Gilding to worn areas , to bring it back to its former glory.

Bugle.. Succulent Plant Holder. I was talking to a garden owner who was also a Succulent plant fan ,the same as me. He grew his in the cracks of slabs standing side by side upright, with the theory the roots would travel down deep and therefore keep the plant top moist even in very dry weather. So i thought i would use his theory but in a tall brass bugle instead. To date its worked well and getting a few comments on it.

Miscellaneous items I acquired and took apart ready to work on. Solid Brass Pendant light fitting with original glass and screw in base access and very dubious wiring.

Brass Door Plates - Oak door handles - Art Deco Cabinet handles - Cast Iron door knockers.

Vintage Westco oil cans, one Small / one Medium in full working order.

R.O.P. Russian Oil Products vintage fuel can…not touched this as it needs to be valued first as its rare.

Box of 63 WW1 Battlefield and Cemetery Magic Lantern Slides in original box. To sell online.

Liberty Owl.. This was from Liberty store in Gt Marlborough St, London and was an access panel cover for one of the original lifts, that were removed during the store refurbishment. Not for sale, i am giving it a gentle clean and refurb. The wood is solid oak from HMS Hindustan, a 80 gun two deck dreadnought battleship from 1841 whose wood was used to build the store after it was decommissioned. Its my pride and joy to own and has pride of place in my living room and is a reminder of good times i had working there for many years.
